How does the Gem Dig work? Water flows over an 8-foot water wheel into a wooden trough. To find the raw gemstones, dump your bag/bucket of dirt into a screen tray, lower it into the trough and sift it in the rushing water with a gentle side to side motion. The water will slowly wash away the sand, and you will soon discover one raw gemstone, then another and eventually, you may find quite a few samples of Amethyst, Citrine, Topaz, Ruby, Sapphire, Garnet, Tourmaline and many more. You are guaranteed to find amazing raw stones in every bag/bucket of mining ore! What do we do with our stones? Once you've uncovered your raw stones, our knowledgeable and very friendly Mr. Jim Diggity and Mr.Dusty Gem will help identify your gems. Each customer will be given a take-home pouch with a treasure chest identification card to help you remember what stones you have. Some of the stones you find can be cut or set in silver or gold jewelry!
